“Life Takes Place” Documentary · Episode 1 🎬

Age can be counted, but later life takes many forms.

The artists began their residencies with ideas of their own. Through close observation and ongoing encounters on site, they revisited their assumptions and reshaped their approaches to making art.

Beginning in June 2026, twelve artists and artist collectives from around the world undertook residencies at Taikang Community senior living communities across China and at Taikang’s headquarters. Drawing on their individual perspectives and experiences, they looked afresh at these spaces and the lives unfolding within them.

Marking Taikang’s 30th anniversary, Taikang Art Museum brings together this body of work to consider Taikang’s longstanding architectural practice within a broader cultural and human context.
